Nick Knowles says one interior design change can add 10% to house’s value on Big House Clear Out

Episode two of Nick Knowles’ Big House Clear Out on Channel 5 aired this evening. The show helps homeowners and their family clear out their cluttered home, in exchange for it getting redecorated.

The families also get the opportunity to choose their favourite charity to get first dibs on the items they no longer want in the process of clearing out.

In this week’s episode of Nick Knowles’ Big House Clear Out, viewers met a family of four consisting of mum Nicky, dad Chris and their two children, Lucy and Sam.

Whilst the contents of the family’s home is removed, the family is temporarily moved to rented accommodation whilst Nick Knowles and the Big House Clear Out team until the house is an ‘’empty shell’’ as Nick says.

Before the episode began the Big House Clear Out team valued the family’s house, which they have been living in for 12 years, at £210,000. By the end of the episode after decluttering and the team redecorated the house, the revaluation price had risen to a whopping £250,000.

Perhaps one of the most shocking parts of the episode, was when it was revealed that Chris had 945 books in the house. The household as a collective owned more than 100 DVDs.

A more touching part of the episode and a win for daughter Lucy, was when Nick purchased a magical rod that belonged to her for £20. ‘’My little boy would love that’’, said Nick.

Nick Knowles shared gems of advice throughout the show. He told the family ”wood floor can add up to 10% value to your home’’ and they quickly changed the flooring.

One of the first Twitter users to tweet about the show this evening was @EmmaCarsley7 who penned ‘’my favourite show. anyone else? #nickknowlesbighouseclearout #bighouseclearout’’

However, some fans were confused at the show, as they compared it to Stacey Soloman’s BBC show with a similar purpose. @SarahJulio tweeted ‘’I’m so confused. Does @StaceySolomon know @channel5_tv has taken #SortYourLifeOut, put Nick Knowles on it and called it #Bighouseclearout?’’

When revealing the transformation of the houses’ conservatory, Nick Knowles described the previous conservatory they had as a ‘’glorified shed’’. By the end of the episode, the family were united saying their remade home will bring them closer together as a family.

Nick Knowles’ Big house clear Out airs weekly at 8pm on Channel 5.
